Cthulu Books
I’ve been collecting and archiving the drawings catching my eyes in my daily life for a few years now. This collection is composed of pictures I take with my phone and sometimes pictures send by friends of mine.
Some of the drawings I captured have been made by non-humans: animals, water, wind, time, or other kinds of hazardous disturbances.
They have been traced using various techniques on a variety of materials.
I like to speculate about the means, the meanings and the use of these drawings, how they were made and thought of by their creators.
I like that a drawing can be a stroll, a house, a feast, and even for some, a matter of life or death,...
For these three particular drawings,
One was captured in the morning, on a metal plate covered by the condensed droplets of the night meeting the day.
Another I noticed during a picnic, and realized this drawing made by the Ips typographus’ larvae was a feast as well.
And the third one was recently send to me by my friend Shannon, from a beach in Florida, where a baby turtle traced a little spin in the sand towards the see.
A dangerous journey and a rite of passage to live a bit longer.
Re-drawing their lines gives me the time to try and observe, feel, and speculate about their gestures and their intentions.
